Musicians of the Nile
The producer of this recording, Alain Weber, is a Parisian who went to Egypt, fell in love with the culture and music...and never went back to France. Metqal Qenawi taught him the rebaba, and the result is this fantastic recording. Completely authentic, with no synthesizer or modern effects. Contains Carolena's favorite drum solo.
Rebaba, arghool, doumbec, tabla baladi, mizmar, vocals.

1. Al Bahr Al Gharam Wasah | Love as Vast as a River 10:03 ambient sound to slow to fast - rebaba, percussion; several "crowd pleasure" baladi breaks
2. Zahrafat Al Sa’id | Rejoicing in Upper Egypt 7:07 fast - drum solo for one dancer (hopefully me, as it's one of my all thime favorite!)
3. Ya TirAla Shadjarah | Oh Bird Upon the Tree 9:19 dramatic slow to fast - mizmars, tabla baladi; if this song doesn't move you...
4. Horse Steps
0:42 ambient sound
5. Al Nahla Al Ali | The Tall Palm Tree 3:25 slow to fast - rebaba, percussion; very challenging
6. Kol Elle Qalboh Ankawa | Everyone Has a Broken Heart 11:59 slow to medium fast - arghul, percussion
7. Yunes Wa Azizah | Yunes and Azizah 10:05 good listening - vocals, rebaba, percussion
8. Al-Aqsur-Isna | From Luxor to Isna 1:24 ambient sound
