Our classes start promptly. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class start. Studio open 1/2hr before each class. Come on in and shop!
Our classes are for women only. For insurance purposes, children are not allowed in the studio or unattended in the store/waiting area. We do not provide childcare.
The new 6 week course will start Tuesday 15 Apr Friday 18 Apr and Saturday 19 Apr 2008. No pre-registration necessary, just arrive 15-20 minutes prior to class start time.
Class changes: Open format 13- 16 May and 3-10 Jun; this means class IS happening but it is not part of the six-week cycle. You can come and enjoy the class, use your class card or the drop-in fee.
Learn to dance by drilling the basics in fun combinations. Using both slow movements and fast steps we'll get you dancing in your first class! All basic movements and group formations in a six-week cycle including posture and body awareness, zils and music. You are welcome to drop-in on this class after the course has started as we have plenty of review built into each class. Intro to partner and group dancing. However, you must arrive 10-15 minutes to class start. The agenda starts on Tue and repeats Fri and Sat of the same week so you can alternate days an still stay on schedule.

Dress for FCBD dance classes: Full skirt or loose pants, hip scarf, short top or leotard (just wear something comfortable). Bare feet or dance shoes only in dance studio. You will need a pair of zils (finger cymbals). You can purchase at the studio or bring your own.
Refine individual technique by drilling basic steps and their variations in creative combinations. Although open to all levels, this class is best used simultaneously with Dance Fundamentals as there are no descriptions of the basic steps. To take this class you must understand partner and group dancing (Level One, above.) Twelve-week cycle.

Saturdays 2-3:30pm
Technique for Intermediate and Advanced steps used in Improv Classes. May include floorwork, sword and basket balancing and other specialty work.

Dress is any color skirt and choli or leotard, hip shawl and pantaloons. Hair tied up off face and neck. You will need your own zils. Bring a headwrap and knee pads for specialty work.
75 minutes $10 drop-in check with a teacher about your skill level before joining this class.
Saturdays 3:45-5pm
Working in duet,trio and chorus formations, set up choreographies using the full range of movements. You must have experience in Dance Fundamentals and Tribal Combinations to join this class.

First half of class is Drills, second half is using the 'Drills' steps in Improv Choreo (see above for descriptions.) This class is also Salon Prep for our student performances.* You must have experience in Dance Fundamentals and Tribal Combinations to join this class.

Zil Drills with FCBD director Carolena Nericcio (all levels)
45 minutes Free if staying for Level One on the same day or $10 drop-in drop-in
Tuesdays and Fridays when Carolena is in town; no zil classes at this time
Zils, or Finger Cymbals are an exciting element to add to the dance, but they can be difficult to master. The key to success is repetition. Join us for an ongoing course that will explain which zils are best for you, how to size them to fit your fingers, feeling the pulse of the music, playing the five basic patterns, adding zils to the dance.

Improve your dancing with yoga! Balance, strength, and flexibility can be yours by flowing through sun salutations, standing poses, seated forward bends, twists, inversions, and backbends. No experience necessary, but bring a mat if you have one. Instructor Anita Lalwani is a registered yoga teacher in the Ashtanga Vinyasa method of yoga which focuses on linking breath to movement. $10 drop in Wednesday evenings 6:00 - 7:15 p.m. For more information contact anitashomeoffice@yahoo.com
Dance Conditioning with FCBD Instructor Anita Lalwani
You WILL become a better bellydancer! Bellydance-specific fitness training with foam rollers, physio balls, tubing, and barbells. NASM Certified Personal Trainer and FCBD troupemember Anita Lalwani has designed an 8 week stronger-body stronger-body-awareness workout to put you through the paces and develop your inner intelligence. This is a progressive 8-week course with 2 make up sessions. Classes will be held at the FCBD Studio on Sunday mornings from 10 – 11:30AM.
