Dance Conditioning with Anita Lalwani-11 Apr-20 Jun 10-11:30am
Make the commitment to improve your posture, presentation, strength, and elegance-- to improve your dancing.  In dance conditioning class, you will build your dance skill in a friendly non competitive environment.  All levels of dancers are welcome.  Each workout is specially designed to improve your tribal bellydance skills.  After a dance warmup, we turn the studio into a gym, turn up the music, and turn up the heat!  Get your sweat on as you move from exercise to exercise, working with resistance bands, dumbbells, physioballs, and other props.  Sit-ups, lunges, and extreme stretches will build your strength, balance and flexibility.  Dance drills bring it all home, integrating your newfound abilities into your dance technique.
All levels of dancers are welcome!
This is a progressive course that runs from 11 Apr-20 Jun 10.
Class fee $150 ($125 if you register before 5 Apr.)
Classes will be held at the FCBD studio on Sunday mornings from 10-11:30am.

Sweet and Spicy Zils
Yes, you can play zils and dance at the same time! Learn how to hold your zils so you can play fast, what to do with your zils during a slow song, which zils are right for you, how to get a consistent sound, and a few other tricks.
We'll look at five Tribal Zil patterns (Basic RLR, Alternating RL, Military, Moroccan Six, Baladi) and apply them to your dance.
*Recommended but not mandatory: Dancers should know the basics of Taxeem, Arm Undulation, Bodywave, Hand Floreos, Shimmy, Arabic Basic, Egyptian Basic, Pivot Bumps and Choo-choos. Dancers without knowledge of the basic steps can drill finger cymbal patterns during the dance segment.

Drilling of Movements / Technique:  Indian Fusion movements (of a classical nature) will be taught and finally strung together in graceful combinations.

Morning Practice
Start the morning off with an energizing Yoga practice and lightning fast drills. We'll focus on combining foot patterns, arm patterns, fundamental isolations and a plethora of shimmies to create one or two combinations, then transition to making your own work. This class borders on cardiovascular exercise, so bring a bottle of water and perhaps a little towel, just in case we get a good sweat going.

Megha Gavin, director Devyani Dance Co. Thu 17 Jun 7-9pm
Combinations
We'll review the Turkish Shimmy 1/4 fade as well as the "Chico Circle Up Combo" and the "Arc Arm Pass-Through" that have become favorites of the Deyvani Dancers.  If time allows we will look at, and play with, two experimental combos for duets involving the Sunanda and the Arabic Shimmy with Arms and Turn.
Students need to know the basics of Arabic, Choo-Choo, Turkish Shimmy, Sunanda and Arabic Shimmy With Arms and Turn.
